1. Phuket Thai Cookery School
This popular cooking school is set in an open air restaurant, on the beach on the east side of Phuket. While it’s not a very fancy school, it offers students an authentic experience and is very well-organized. Dishes are pre-selected and change on a daily basis, so if you have a favorite check with them to find out when they’re teaching it. The school will arrange pick up at your hotel in the morning and drop you off in the afternoon.
2. Pat’s Thai Home Cooking
If you want a personalized cooking class in a home setting, Pat’s Thai Home Cooking is a great choice. Classes are taught by former chef who spent a decade cooking in the US before returning to Thailand and you can customize classes and pick the dishes you want to prepare, or try more advanced cooking techniques.
3. Blue Elephant Phuket
This branch of the famous restaurant and cooking school chain just opened in March 2010 and is located in a gorgeous Sino-Chinese mansion in Phuket Town. Like the Bangkok cooking classes, these classes begin with a trip to a local market and include a great little cookbook.
4. Mom Tri’s Boathouse
This cooking school at one of Phuket’s most popular restaurants is right on Kata Beach. Though this is a higher-end course, students do plenty of hand-on preparation. Classes only run on Saturdays and Sundays.
