Phuket Nightlife is hopping! If you’re just looking for a cold beer and a little music, there are scores of places on Phuket that will satisfy. It is, after all, a resort island so there’s plenty going on everywhere to entertain visitors. If you want to see live music, party at a big nightclub or sip cocktails in a fabulous bar, check out these Phuket nightlife spots.
This nightclub just opened in July 2009 and is a strong contender for best club in Phuket if you’re looking for a mix of music crafted to get people off their chic bar stools and onto the dance floor. The techno, trance and pop is often mixed by DJs visiting from all over the world, much like Sound Phuket’s sister club in Bangkok, Bed Supperclub. The club is housed in the Jungceylon Shopping Complex, but don’t be put off by its shopping mall location. Once you step inside you’ll find a large, modern, well-designed club.
This arty, funky, modern lounge bar off Kalim beach is the place to see and be seen, for the moment at least. Set in a two-storey house with its own outdoor garden, Nine Lounge and Bar is filled with modern art and equally modern, stylish patrons enjoying cocktails and listening to casual jazz. Drinks are a bit pricey but if you’re there you shouldn’t care about money!
This restaurant and bar in the hills surrounding Kata Beach is one of the few places on the island with live jazz. The good selection of wines from all over the globe, beautiful view overlooking the water and upscale patrons make Ratri Jazz Bar feel quite high-end so if you plan on going, skip the flip flops and make reservations.
4. Ska Bar
If the name didn’t clue you in, the bartenders with dreadlocks and posters of Bob Marley adorning this outdoor bar on the southern side of Kata Beach won’t let you forget what Ska Bar is all about. Good reggae music, cheap drinks and a nightly fire show make this Phuket institution a must for those who want to chill out for the night. Grab a stool and shout “ya man!” but don’t forget that marijuana is illegal in Thailand.Techno music pervades this large club on Patong Beach Road. The club is one of the most established on the island and looks a little worse for the wear when the lights aren’t dim but is still immensely popular during the weekend. Though plenty of tourists visit, there is often what appears to be a large contingent of bar girls there, which may make some a little uneasy.
